Birth control pills are a combination of synthetic estrogen and progesterone. They are used not only for birth control but also to regulate irregular cycles and to modulate menopausal symptoms.Â
They have always been and will be controversial, as their safety in the short-and long-term has been in question.Â
Holistic Medicine generally does not encourage the use of BC pills, especially to regulate dysfunctional periods, as adding synthetic chemicals to an existing problem at best masks symptoms rather than healing at the root-cause level.
