Hormones & Metabolism Program

Hormones are the metabolic (chemical) messages sent between cells. They began when two cells needed to communicate with eachother, i.e. at the very beginning of life. Plants and all multi-cellular species use various types of chemical messenges.

While “metabolism” in the every-day sense usually refers to the ability to maintain or change weight, the scientific definition refers to all biochemical processes of the body. These include processes of digestion, assimilation, growth, repair, elimination and detoxification.

When we test metabolic and hormonal function (sometimes called “functional medicine”), there are several categories of molecules.
