In conventional medicine, a “procedure” is an action that a health professional provides to a patient. While most procedures are done with needles and knives (surgery), there are also evaluative and “counseling” procedures. Treatment “modalities” are also procedures but they are usually non-invasive and not always provided by health professionals.
