“Ortho” means right, orthomolecular means “right molecule”. The term was coined in the 1950’s by two-time Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling and his team of physicians and scientists that included Abram Hoffer, ____.
This was in distinction to the term “mega-vitamin” which was previously used, since “mega” implied too much.
This work has been continued by Andrew Saul, who has maintained the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine and other resources.
