Creating Article Post

Intro

You will need 3 windows to be as efficient as possible

SETUP

  1. Log in to word press as Staff`
  2. Open up 3 windows as above
  3. open up articles directory by opening:
     \\ddm\h\d\_all_years\!_articles

    (ddm is current server, might change)
  4.  The next series of steps will be repeated for each articleor next article: 

Steps

  1. Open  article-template in “Backend” view (new browser tab will open)
  2. Halfway down the page, under the “Themify Custom Panel” make sure the “Themify builder” tab is selected:    themify_custom_panel
  3. Click on the duplicate icon to make a copy of the post with all of its settings
  4. It will ask “Save Before Duplicating…”, click YES, wait for it to make the copy  save before duplicating
  5. At the top of the post, rename the title of the post, to match the exact title of the article
  6.  Copy name of the new title, and paste it into the “Permalink” below the title (it will probably add a -2 to the end of the permalink since there is already a post with that name.
  7. On far right, click “Publish” button to save new Post; wait for the wheels in the center and far right to finish and refresh
  8. On left, side, click “Themify Builder” to go to “Frontend” which is easier to see/edit   publish & frontend buttons

    FRONTEND
  9. Click on “text here” to open text module
  10. Go to existing article and grab text (Ctrl-C)
  11. Paste (Ctrl-V) into the text module
  12. Upper right, click orange SAVE button to save frontend save
  1. n the PDF in the directory list on DDM (will open in acrobat)
  2. At the top menu click file>export>image>jpg
  3. Click save
  4. Go back to articles directory, hit f5 to refresh the file list, you should see at least one jpg with the same title as the article
  5. If there is more than one jpeg, only keep page one and rename to exactly match the first name of the original article with the second name as jpeg.
  6. Image is too large. To shrink, R-click on jpg with Irfanview to open.
  7. Ctrl-R to resize image (or Image > Resize)
  8. Chose 15% , then OK
  9. Ctrl-S to overwrite original jpg (should go from 1000’s  of KB to < 100)
  10. Log in to word press as Staff`
  11.  Open an existing article post by clicking here 
  12.  Press the edit button
  13.  Halfway down the page, under the “Themify Custom Panel” make sure the  “themify builder” tab is selected
  14.  click on the duplicate icon to make a copy of the post with all of its settings
  15. To find the copy, click on the dashboard (left), at the top All Posts. The copy should be at the top. Click edit.
  16. Rename the title of the post, to match the exact title of the article
  17.  Copy name of the new title, and paste it into the “Permalink” below the title
  18. Go back to the “Themify Custom Panel” and chose the “post options” tab
  19. towards the bottom, you will see the “Lightbox Link” field filled in with the name of the copied article. Change only the article name within that field
  20. Open Media Library Folders . Wait for page to populate
  21. Click the “!_articles” directory, wait for it to populate
  22. Click on “Add File”
  23. Drag the PDF from the local directory into the “Drag and Drop” Boxor to let you know it is ready to move the file.
  24. When the “insert to post” button turns blue, it is done moving. We DO NOT want to insert into post, so hit the “x” in the upper right corner
  25. Click on Update on the right to save your work so far
  26. Scroll down to bottom of right column to the “featured image” panel. Click on “set featured image”, wait for it to populate
  27. Click the “!_articles” directory, wait for it to populate
  28. Drag the JPG from the local directory into the “featured image” window, it will change color to let you know it is ready to move the file.
  29. Then click on, set featured image at the bottom right side
  30. Update
  31.  Re-open current list of articles already on website here.
  32. Check that the article is there. Also test lightbox.
  33. Back to step 1 for next article.
